About Killin

Whilst Killin is not actually in The Trossachs it is a very pleasant drive to reach Killin through the magnificent Glen Ogle with its 19th century railway viaduct and wonderful scenery all the way. Killin is located at the west end of Loch Tay in the centre of the ancient territory of Breadalbane - 'the high country of Alba'. Surrounded by the giants of Breadalbane - Ben More, Stob Binian, Ben Lawers, Tarmachan and others it is a perfect setting for the walker, the photographer, artist or just for sightseeing. There are guesthouses, hotels and some self catering establishments as well as at least 4 caravan sites at or close to Killin. Several pubs and restaurants cater for the human comforts and a handful of shops supply groceries and souvenir goods.

• Visit the Breadalbane Folklore Centre beside the river
• Marvel, pose and take your photos beside the Falls of Dochart and the ancient stone bridge
• Honour the McNab Clan's ancient burial ground on the island of Inchbuie - accessed from the bridge at the falls
• Examine the ancient ruins and beheading pit of Finlarig Castle - built by Black Duncan Cambell of the Cowl
• Hire a bike and explore the quiet country roads
• Hire a canadian canoe on the loch
• See rare alpine plants and environment at the Ben Lawers conservation centre
• Conquer a Munro - climb Ben Lawers from an easy start the 1500 feet elevation car park (be prepared for weather etc).
